Our story:
Perhaps it was the ever-increasing intake of Pimm’s, cider, wine and beer that did it. Or maybe it was the hearty pub lunches with the other halves. Quite possibly it was the complete distain for any exercise other than the trek to the tube station each morning. Let’s be honest – it’s a combination of all of the above!!
So! Instead of maybe joining the girls at Pilates or taking up a spot of perving... I mean running... on the common like a normal Kiwi expat in London, we’ve gone EXTREME!
From 0% fitness level to marathon goddesses, Knight & Panther Knight are taking on the London Marathon 2010!
Our goals:
We approach this mammoth challenge with two goals in mind.
On a personal or selfish level there’s the physical challenge. Right now, neither of us can imagine running for 5km , let alone 42.2km. The coming months will see blood, sweat and tears (and trust us, there will be tears - quite possibly from our soon-to-be longsuffering husbands who have yet to allow even a hint of scepticism into their vocal support for our crazy plans) as we work towards race fitness and fantastic figures (we hope).
On a wider, humanitarian level, we want to use this opportunity to raise money for such a worthy cause as Age Concern and Help the Aged (in addition to the countless hours that Sarah already donates on a daily basis!). Age Concern and Help the Aged is an international charity fighting to free older people from poverty, isolation and neglect. Age Concern and Help the Aged look after those older people all over the world who don’t have their own support network of loving family members and friends.
Your support:
To get to that finish line and the champagne celebrations at the end, we need your support. All the money we raise goes directly to benefitting Age Concern and Help the Aged achieve their identified aims and for this we need everyone to donate towards this excellent cause, whether it be £10 or £100. Every pound goes to this great cause, and makes the London Marathon the incredible day that it is.
And for those of you at home, the embarrassingly weak Kiwi Dollar is no excuse! Luckily for you, JustGiving is an international website and just like our friends who are lucky enough to be earning the pound, we gratefully accept any donations from New Zealand.
See you at the finish line!
Sarah & Kay
