Story
On 25th May I will be walking across 20ft of burning embers to raise money for Leicester Animal Aid who rescue and re-home dogs and cats. (Please take a look at their webpage for more information)
I am willing to take the most inspirational journey and walk bare foot over red-hot wood embers measuring around 1200 degrees. No tricks, no special effects. Just me and the fire……..
Fire walking has an ancient history with the oldest recorded walk occurring over 4,000 years ago in India when two Brahmin priests were competed to see who could walk further over hot coals. The sciences behind fire walking is very well proven but let’s face it, physics and facts don’t quite dispel the fear caused by the feeling of intense heat on your face at the edge of the fire pit!
Fear is at the centre of the experience, the fear you feel on the brink of a fire walk is incredible (so they say in all the research I have looked at on this subject!)– All of your survival instincts are telling you to stay put. Stay where it’s safe. Don’t take the risk…..
The event is taking place at Stoney Stanton at Stoney Cove, and if you want to come and support me in person you can see me walking on fire at 7pm! The restaurant next to the cove ‘Nemos’ will be open for beer and food if you want to make an evening of it too.
Toasty!
