Hello again - I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has sponsored me, on Sunday 10th August, I completed my 14k swim and all of your messages and donations definitely helped me to reach the finish line. I completed the event in a total time of 3hours 14minutes, meaning a total swim time of about 2hours 50minutes and I placed 60th out of 450.

Many thanks again for all your support, it has meant a huge amount to me and your money has gone to a fantastic cause.

Hello! As some of you already know, on Sunday 10th August I am planning to complete a 14km, open water endurance swim from Henley Bridge to Marlow Bridge, in aid of Cancer Research. I started officially training in January and now spend most of my evenings in water and more time than I'd care to admit wearing a swimming hat!

To help put the distance into perspective, the swimming section of a full Ironman is 3.8k. This is a huge personal and physical challenge and although I spend a lot of time in the pool, competitive, open water swimming is completely new to me and something I only started in April. I'm hoping to complete the distance in under 5 hours and will be swimming for my Grandpa who I knew and loved and my Gran and Grandpa that I never got the chance to, in the hope that less lives are cut short in the future.  

You can read more about Cancer Research UK and the work they do by clicking on the link opposite but, as a quick overview, the charity works to improve treatment for current cancer patients and reduce the side effects alongside funding research into more than 200 types of cancer from the most common to rare types of tumour and children's cancer. It is currently estimated that more than one in three people will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime and unfortunately it's a disease that impacts many more, if not everyone's, lives.
