My mum Karen was diagnosed with early onset dementia at only 54 years old, my dad Dave retired from work to look after and care for her full time. Unfortunately she declined rapidly, and she was taken into full time professional care at 57.
I would give up everything to be able to have the mum back I grew up with, but the nature of this disease has taken that away from me, my brother and my dad.
All I can hope, is that one day, however much I raise for this amazing charity and all the work they do, a cure can be found, not only to slow the effects of Alzheimer’s/Dementia, but to be able to rid the world of it completely!
