Story
We are walking the width of the country along Hadrian's Wall! From Bowness-on-Solway to Newcastle (Wallsend).
Starting on 23rd July, we'll be walking on average 15 miles a day, carrying all of our equipment to be self-sufficient for six days hiking/camping.
Yes, most of the team comprises of the DofE expedition buddies so you may think that it's not much of a challenge. However, if truth be told...DofE weekends don't involve much personal walking and we take a mini-bus to carry all of our 'glamping' equipment. So for many of us, this will be the longest expedition we've ever done.
WHY?!Part of this is personal challenge and for a bit of a jolly. We really enjoy each others' company (at the moment) and this will just end a fantastic 12 months of various hikes and mountain climbs. However, the main reason is this...
As many of you know, Lucy lost her wonderful Father to Cancer last August. It was out of that, that this adventure was born. At first we were going to raise money for a cancer charity but after consultation with her Mother, we decided on 'Age UK'. Age UK helped her parents immeasurably during her Dad's illness, providing all sorts of services in order to keep him safe and well at home. In addition, their advice and guidance was invaluable. Everyone, with luck, gets old and Age UK is a wonderful charity doing incredible work.
Please get behind us and support us...this really is quite a scary thing to do. 15 miles in a day is challenging at the best of times, let alone with a pack on and for six days in a row.
