Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

At Larbert High School we have been raising funds to Pay for a Day at Strathcarron Hospice, a vital part of our local communities. We are delighted that we reached this goal in May 2020 due to a number of events including: Christmas Fun Run and Lip Sync Battles, Summer Fun Legacy Day, Snowdrop Appeal, Staff participating in the Stirling Half marathon and TCSC staff participating in The May Marathon challenge. In addition, Expressive Arts worked with Strathcarron Hospice for their fashion show and Marnie Izatt designed a pendant that was created and raised funds in a raffle. These events show a fantastic range of fundraising ideas and the chance for the whole school community to contribute in some way.

Now, as we embark on trying to Pay for another Day in a post Covid world, we are looking at new and innovative projects that will allow us to continue supporting the fantastic work Strathcarron do.

Thursday the 3rd of March is World Book Day 2022
and this year the LHS English department have been working to create an exciting event to celebrate. From the week beginning the 28th February  – 4th of March, all S1 & S2 English pupils will participate in our reading and literary themed challenges with their class teachers through their English lessons. These lessons will kick off the start of their month long Readathon to raise money for Strathcarron Hospice. To track their completion of these challenges, we have created a bingo card which pupils can access though their english google classroom page. As pupils complete the challenges, they have the opportunity to achieve BINGO! by either completing a row or the whole card. Successful pupils will receive a prize when they return to school to commemorate their hard work. This is a sponsored, month long event to help us on our goal to pay for a second day of care at Strathcarron Hospice.

Therefore, World Book Day is our opportunity to improve our reading, get excited about literacy and raise some much needed funds. We are encouraging all pupils, parents and staff to get involved. If your child is taking part we ask that you sponsor them as much or as little as you can spare to complete their bingo card throughout the month of March.

Thank you for your much needed donations and happy reading!
