Thank - you for taking the time to read my page .
I was lucky enough to get a ballot place in the Virgin Money London Marathon on April 26th 2020 (now rescheduled to October 3rd 2021) and I am taking the opportunity to support Stroke Association.
I have experienced first hand the impact a stroke has on both the stroke sufferer and the family who suddenly find themselves caring for them .
My Dad had several strokes over several years before he passed away in 2017.When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down and so does a part of you. Each stroke brought new challenges with deteriorating mobility, sight and speech which we all had to overcome. My Dad was a very proud man and needing to be helped with everyday tasks hit him hard .
We as a family were able to help my Mum with caring for my Dad but many stroke sufferers do not have anyone to help .
With your kind support money raised will help Stroke Association provide support to stroke sufferers, their families and carers. Their specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, they can rebuild more lives.
I started running 4 years ago and joined Squirrels running club shortly before Dad died. I have run several half marathons - this will be my second marathon following the Rock n Roll Liverpool Marathon in May 2019. My Dad would have found it hilarious that his laziest daughter was running a marathon.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my JustGiving page and for your support .
