Times are tough for every family but it’s especially challenging for those parenting children who have experienced neglect or abuse. Trauma experienced in their early lives has a lasting impact on their relationships, health and learning.

Five years on and we still experience misunderstanding as developmental trauma means they experience life differently. For my babies, everyday is like climbing a mountain with a 50kg backpack just to appear like everyone else. All they want is what others take for granted, and hate themselves for not reacting the same.

All children are born with the right to be safe and loved, those who started with abuse and neglect need everything all other children need, but in greater quantities!
