Adam + Mark are doing The Heb to support LSPCA in Malawi!
Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals is Malawi's first and leading animal welfare charity caring for dogs, cats, farm animals and wildlife. We work closely with the local community to run free veterinary clinics for rabies vaccination, spaying and neutering and to care for farm animals and donkeys. There are less than 10 practising vets in Malawi so our clinics provide life-saving treatment for animals which would never otherwise see a vet. See more on our website: www.lilongwespca.org
We visit schools every week to teach children how to look after their dogs and farm animals. Our foster and adoption scheme provides wonderful 'forever' homes for abandoned animals. We also work closely with the government vets and the police to investigate cases of animal cruelty. We educate owners on how to care for their animals, and in severe cases we support the police to take animal cruelty prosecutions.
Adam and Mark visited LSPCA in 2012 to set up LSPCA's veterinary clinic (Adam set up the consult rooms and theatre and Mark re-wired the whole clinic!!). Adam experienced the real difficulties of running a vet clinic in Malawi when he and his family visited again for 3 months in 2014.
On 2-3rd September 2017, Adam and Mark are doing The Heb – Race on the Edge described as an achievable, exciting, engaging, truly adventurous and absorbing journey through a spectacular, wild and remote landscape – the Hebridean Island chain off the west coast of Scotland!. They will be running (a fair bit), mountain biking (quite a bit), kayaking (a tad), and navigating to raise much needed funds for LSPCA.
The target is £55 000 to buy a purpose built mobile veterinary clinic and theatre so LSPCA can provide essential veterinary care to animals anywhere in Malawi. The mobile clinic van will be fitted out in the UK and shipped to Kenya then driven down to Malawi.
LSPCA is very grateful that our good friends Adam and Mark are taking on this gruelling challenge to support our team and care for more animals in Malawi!
On behalf of Adam, Mark and the LSPCA team,
Zikomo kwambiri (Thank you very much)!
RSPCA is kindly helping us with the administration of all funds raised and will send 100% of all donations straight to the LSPCA.
JustGiving – they’ll never send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to us and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - LSPCA raises more, whilst saving time and cutting costs.
We can save many more animals with your help and will be happy to keep you updated on our work if you include your email address when you donate.
