Story
Hi my name is lynne and this will be my second time doing the GREAT NORTH RUN in my wheel chair . I ran10 GNRs and a london marathon before i was diognoised with multiple sclrosis in 2005 . I thought my competing days were over until last year i was giving the chance to do the run again , only this time i would be doing it as a disabled competitor .I would be assisted by Helen Skelton from Blue Peter and Lee Loden from Tynedale Harriers .I honestly never thought i would have had such a blast it was fab . We spent most of the run talking about the state of the roads ,which ones were good and which ones were bad ,as you can guess the bad ones were the ones where my front wheels would spin around and i would nearly fly out of my chair but we would be laughing so much we did not care . At the finish we had adopted another 4 harrier runners to help, us i called them ( my possie ) . We completed the run in 2 hours and 30 minuets . At the end we had an interview with Sue Barker, i was that hyper she must have thought i was on drugs ( well i am ,but not that sort ) I was raising money for the minories day center which i go to 3 time a week to give my husband David a break from caring for me .I have 2 wonderful children Lauren who is 17 yrs and is hoping to be a jockey and Kieren who is 13yrs and plays in goal for Cramlington Juniors .So both of my children are doing fab . I try not to take life seriosly and that is how i cope . MS is a debilitating illness but as long as i have sound mind ( the body is knackered ) i will keep on fundraising for good causes !
