Stephen's 4 Peaks Challenge Page

I'm climbing 4 peaks, including England's highest for Racing Welfare because they provide valuable support to people in racing.

Story

My Name is Steve Freeman,

I work for Lucy Normile who is a Racehorse Trainer in Duncrevie, near Perth in Scotland. I have worked in Racing now for 17 years, 15 of which I have been for my current trainer.

I am raising money for Racing Welfare as they are the only charity dedicated to Stable Staff who work in Racing. The racing industry can be a very challenging career, Racing Welfare is there to help people with all kinds of problems from housing to mental health issues. Many people have difficulties at some stage in there racing career and Racing Welfare are there to help, whether it be bullying, addiction, depression or money worries or just the need of someone to talk too.

Stable staff are the backbone of the racing industry and it is vital that they have someone like Racing Welfare looking out for them. The thing that inspired me to fund-raise for racing welfare was seeing them bring former Stable Staff together in the racing centers for a festive meal, something that could have made a huge difference to some people who could be feeling lonely or isolated at Christmas.
