We support people with myasthenia and their families, increase public and medical awareness of the condition and raise funds for research and support staff. Our aim is to make life easier for people with myasthenia and their families by providing information, advice and support.

Story

Well most of you know my story but for everybody else here it is.

Back in July 2015 I was diagnosed with myasthenia which is a rare auto immune condition that affects the use of voluntary muscles in the body. Common symptoms are droopy eyelids, weak arms and legs, slurred speech, double vision and fatigue. More serious symptoms are swallowing,  breathing difficulties and mobility issues.

Myaware helped me when I was first diagnosed by providing me with support, information and the opportunity to meet other people with this condition. I was already a keen runner when I was diagnosed, and although I had to stop this in the early days of my treatment I was back running again within six months.

I run now to stay fit and healthy, plus to show that myasthenia is not always life limiting and it can be brought under control meaning people can lead normal lives. By donating to me you will be helping myaware to continue to support people with this condition, raise awareness and also fund research so someday a cure can be found.

So far in 2017 I have run the Llanelli and Swansea Half Marathons, and will be doing the Great North Run in September and Cardiff Half in October. Four half marathons in one year will be quite an achievement for me, and I hope you can support me in helping myaware help others with myasthenia.

Please donate whatever you can - it really will make a difference.

Thank You.
