Story
The Lancashire Clinical Research Facility is a dedicated, safe and comfortable space for research participants to access high quality clinical research. Clinical research offers participants the opportunity to access innovative treatments and contribute to the design of new and improved health care interventions to improve care and quality of life.
Our facility is fully equipped to run research studies from focus groups to leading edge experimental medicines. We are proud of our friendly and experienced team who provide the highest level of care for our participants and their families.
Based on the Royal Preston Hospital site, we are unique in working as a partnership with an acute trust, a mental health and community trust and a top 10 university. This means we run research studies across a wide sector of health, and focus on cancer, dementia and neurosciences.
We have been designated a National Institute of Health research (NIHR) Experimental Medicine Centre, which is a prestigious award recognising the world class research and high quality facilities we offer.
In 2017 Rosemere Cancer Foundation chose our project to enhance the experience of cancer patients participating in clinical research at the Lancashire CRF as part of it's 20 year anniversary campaign. We are working hard to raise money to support the anniversary campaign as a whole and would appreciate any support you can offer.
International Clinical Trials Day (#ICTD17) on 19th May is an opportunity for the international research community to celebrate and raise awareness of research and its benefits to patients. As part of raising awareness of how we support patients, we have decided to set ourselves the challenge of cycling the distance between all the other clinical research facilities in the North of England (approximately 400 miles) using a series of static bikes. The rest of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation trust are also being challenged to add their steps to our mileage total.
The University of Cumbria and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Physiotherapy department have kindly provided the static bikes.
