In 1988 my Aunty founded the Jersey Women’s Refuge as the only independent domestic violence charity in Jersey. 

The refuge provides a safe place for women and children to go who are victims of domestic abuse, whether the abuse be physical, emotional, sexual or financial.

The Women’s Refuge provides a 24-hour, confidential service, which offers practical and emotional support to women and children suffering from abuse.

Having grown up in a loving supportive home, where my family have instilled in me high self esteem and self worth, I feel it is unjust that a safe and caring home life is not everyones reality. 

We often take for granted the encouragement and emotional help we receive from our friends and family. I am so grateful for the group of people that surround me. I have seen that for some, the Women’s Refuge are those people.
