As most of you know I am a Type 1 Diabetic and now pregnant :)
Through this experience I have been exposed to the difficulties of controlling diabetes during pregnancy as well as the complications that can arise.
- Miscarriage
- Problems with your eyes and kidneys
- It’s more likely you’ll have a larger baby – this can make the birth more painful and possible stress for the baby. So you may need a caesarian (C-section).
- Baby may be born with serious health problems, such as spina bifida. This is where the baby’s spine doesn’t develop properly
I have been lucky enough to have resources through the amazing health system in the UK... The NHS. I have been exposed to different medical professionals (Diabetic nurses, specialist midwives and ultra sound technicians, Mental health/Diabetic specialists), all medical prescriptions have been free and I have been given as much advice to ensure my baby is healthy and to avoid complications. I have no idea how people without these resources are able to do it.
That is why I would like to raise money to those around the world who will have to go through this experience without even the essentials... INSULIN.
Please help me in raising money for the #insulin4all campaign through T1International.
As a little game, please write your estimation of my babies weight in the comments section once giving a small donation... PRIZE will be...a bottle of prosecco and some chocolate for the person closest to the actual weight.
Thank you in advance for any donations :)
