Story
Our amazing son Ben was born in March 2016 with cleft lip and palate. This is a condition for 1 in every 700 babies in the UK. Fortunately we have access to the amazing care of the NHS and cleft services and Ben had his first of many surgeries in July.
Many people don't have a great understanding of cleft. It can come with feeding, breathing and speaking difficulties. This is why we are so lucky to have received the care we have.
So Andrew and I have decided to motivate ourselves to run the Royal Parks half marathon in October to raise money for Smile Train. Millions of children in developing countries with untreated clefts live in isolation. Smile Train help to provide sustainable training, funding, and resources to empower local doctors in 85+ developing countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.
We feel so strongly that all cleft babies deserve treatment and would be grateful for donations no matter how small for this worthy charity.
