Story
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
Our story
As some of you may know our dad was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) at the beginning of the year. This completely threw our lives upside down. Not only was he 46 but in his own words "my body is a temple". He fought and lost his short battle with cancer on 14/06/2023. Throughout our cancer journey Sue Ryder and their nurses have been the best support we could have had. Every nurse we saw leaves a special place in our hearts and we will forever be grateful to the palliative team for keeping him comfortable right up to the end. Because of this I have set myself the challenge of running the London Marathon in April to raise as much money as I can to help Sue Ryder continue to provide the care and support they offer. My running journey started as a way to prove I could run faster and further than my dad (typical competitive Lauren), he's always been my go to for running tips/advice and I know this will be a difficult race emotionally but I know he will be with me every step of the way.
