Story

I'm doing the Spectrum Night Walk this World Autism Acceptance Week to help change attitudes, to transform lives and create a society that works for autistic people.

I am undertaking the Spectrum Night Walk on the 2nd April 2022, during World Autism Acceptance Week, to raise money for the National Autistic Society.

The National Autistic Society helps approximately 700,000 autistic individuals in the UK and their families and they are dedicated to transforming lives and changing attitudes towards those with ASD. They also campaign to champion the rights and interests of autistic people and their families, making sure national policy and legislation reflect their needs.

As I was diagnosed with ASD this year, I’m sure many of you will appreciate how important this year’s World Autism Acceptance week is to me.

Having been diagnosed at a late stage and questioning my ability with daily activities for 29 years, I think it is so important to educate those unaware of the condition and to help make the world friendlier for those who are affected by it.

I would be grateful if you could help me on my quest. Any donations and kind words of support would be much appreciated and I’d like to thank any friends and work colleagues who have accepted me for who I am and made my recent diagnosis less daunting.
