London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

We are a national charity working to transform the hopes and happiness of young people facing abuse, exploitation and neglect. We support them through their most serious life challenges and we campaign tirelessly for the big social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most.

Story

I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working
in Scotland. My team and I have continued to support young people with the most significant mental illnesses and those who have required hospitalisation through the pandemic and beyond. I have a amazing son who humbles me every day. I am aware not every child has the equal start they deserve. I want to do this for him and for all the children who inspire me to have faith in the future.

I have also recently experienced PTSD following the
death of 2 friends. They died, unconnected, within 3 days of each other. This, coupled with work issues sent me into a place I have not been in since my father died. Running has helped me
remember the good times and memories. I want to give something back.

And finally, as a BAME woman-I was never encouraged as child
to run or exercise. I never felt I could do it. Running for charity means I can hopefully inspire everyone to give it a go!
