Story
I'm running for The Royal Blind School because an inspirational young man who would put us all to shame attends there and he's got to give me kisses after this!
Andrew, is just like any normal teenager, loving gigs, dreaming of what he's going to do when he leaves school and full of cheek! Except he's not, he's more inspirational, the youngest Pushkin prize winner yet he suffers from a condition call RP syndrome that left him blind at only 8 years old and has subsequently robbed him of his hearing and at times some of his mobility. Can you imagine being blind and deaf and how challenging that would be?
Yet, Andrew continues to flourish and show others just what can be achieved with a positive attitude and a great support network. He's been in a band, a swimming club and did I mention a literacy prize winner and much much more.
The Royal Blind School is thee ONLY school that can support those with both sight and hearing challanges, yet their funding is limited.
Please help us raise awareness of RP and support Andrew and the school to continue to make a difference to all the lives they touch.
Royal Blind is Scotland's largest visual impairment organisation. We care, educate and employ blind and partially sighted people from across the UK. We support people of all ages - from babies and toddlers at our pre-school playgroup, children at our school and after school club, young adults through our supported accommodation and respite care, and elderly people in our care home.
