Hello!

I will be attempting this Parish Walk this year, in memory of my dad. He always wanted us to do it together and unfortunately we never got to, so I will be doing it for him, and hopefully raising money for charity. 

My dad was a massive sports lover, watching any type of game that was playing on TV or locally. His main loves were, of course, golf and football. He spent many years coaching local youth teams, and had recently taken the sport up again to play for Castletown Combi. 

I have decided to raise money for Craig's Heartstrong Foundation, as this  very worthy charity had provided the defibrillator that was used on the pitch at Castletown to help my dad. In 2012 they provided all high schools, football clubs, rugby clubs, and various other sports facilities with the life saving devices. 

They are also dedicated to providing regular heart screenings for young people on the island, which is a service I am sure we can all be grateful for, and many of us will have made use of.

As my lovely dad was a big supporter of local sport and especially the youth teams (I am proud to say I have spoken to many young people who say he was an inspiration to them and a real driving force behind their football success), I know he would be honoured to raise money for a charity that is dedicated to the screening of young people (sports players and otherwise), in order to detect any heart defects.
