Story

On the 5th September 2011 at 40+5 weeks pregnant, our lives changed forever...

After noticing that my usually very active little baby had not moved all day, my husband and I drove to the hospital for all to be checked out thinking we were being overly cautious only to be to be told that our precious long awaited baby boy had passed away.

Words cannot describe how we felt.

I was induced on the 7th September and after a long labour I gave birth on the 8th September to Lennie Ray Tarran at 07.26am weighing a healthy 7lb 8oz. He was perfect, the only flaw.....not breathing.

We had a few precious hours with our beautiful son that day, cuddling him, kissing him, taking in every perfect thing about him to be etched in our minds forever. He was blessed with all his closest family around him and then we had to say goodbye.

Nobody should ever have to go through this, not in this day and age......

Lennie's funeral was held 3 weeks later and there were so many people who he would have grown up to love that came to say there farewells. It was the hardest day of our lives.

My husband carried Lennie in his tiny white coffin, his big sister stood and told everyone how much she loved him and I had sung and recorded a lullabye I used to sing to Lennie whilst I was pregnant.

No parent should ever have to say goodbye to their child, this is why I have set up this page.....to try to make a difference in memory of our precious son.

SANDS are a wonderful charity offering support to anyone affected by the death of a baby and promote research into reducing the unnessesary loss of babie's lives. I have found such a comfort from all they have had to offer so far.

The money donated to SANDS is spent well, here are just some examples of where your money will go!

The provision of small individual items for parents to keep which will help create lasting memories of their babies. We received a lovely framed casting of Lennie's hand and footprints, locks of his hair, and pictures as well as a lovely little memory book for us to keep. We would never had thought of this at the time.

Furniture and amenities are donated to the hospitals to help support parents at their time of loss and improve the environment they are in, also your money will help fund the development or refurbishment of Sands rooms within hospitals and the cost of their upkeep. Without these we would have been on the maternity ward among other parents with there healthy babies.

SANDS also provide training days for Healthcare Professionals based on the Sands Guidelines for Professionals.

Local support groups for parents with trained befrienders where we can talk about our experiences and find mutual support. I have found such comfort through my local group by knowing that I am not alone.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please, anything helps, together lets make a difference and try to stop this awful tragedy affecting future families.

Thank you so much.
