Story
Anyone who has agreed to go for a walk with our mother in the past soon finds out they are not in for an easy jaunt. It is therefore with great trepidation that we have agreed to walk 55 miles along Hadrian's Wall with her. We're talking D of E, platinum edition.
While this route may not be as physically challenging as climbing Kilimanjaro or running a marathon, it is one we have become all too familiar with in the past months. Our father, Jimbo, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the beginning of May and having chosen to have all his treatment at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, this road became our daily commute.
We will therefore be walking from the Freeman Hospital, home along Hadrian's Wall to raise money for The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund which focuses on increasing funds for what is currently an area that attracts little research. The charity therefore aims to address this issue by increasing awareness of this form of cancer and giving sufferers a voice to do so.
