Bupa Great North Run 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·

..the charity aims to help children & their families at their darkest times, when they have either lost a parent or sibling, or have a parent or sibling undergoing treatment for a terminal disease. Children need help at these times, to ensure they can move through to adulthood & avoid future issues.

Story

Our story.

Lesley has taken part in the BUPA Great North run 6 times but not for the last 10 years so needed to challenge herself again and talked Wendy into joining in. When we failed to get a place We decided to run for a charity that was close to our hearts. We couldn't believe it when we found the  Jo & Mya memorial fund and feel that We could not have found anything closer to our hearts.

Those who know us well are aware we sadly lost our brother Gary to a road traffic accident, he was aged 24 years. the tragic accident was in Scotland on the day he was to be married. As a very close family we felt we would never recover from our loss, however supported each other and became even closer.

Families are important and the Jo & Mya memorial fund supports children who have lost siblings or have a parent or sibling undergoing treatment for a terminal illness.  Consequently when training and running the GNR for this worthwhile cause We will remember our brother Gary, still loved, missed and never forgotten.
