Story
Having experienced breast cancer in my family, I know something of the worry and uncertainty involved with diagnosis. Happily I did not have to face the loss of someone very dear to me. Consequently, I am always keen to support charities who work to improve the diagnosis, treatment and standards of care of this disease to promote a similarly positive outcome for other patients and their families. In my previous job as a medical statistician I worked for five years for the Institute of Cancer Research, running clinical trials in breast and prostate cancer and, having now left the medical research world behind, this sponsored 20-mile walk is a great opportunity to combine my love of the outdoors with supporting another very worthwhile cancer charity.
Breast Cancer Care is there for anyone affected by breast cancer. It provides information and support for sufferers and their families, and works to improve standards of support and care promoting the importance of early detection.
I would be very grateful if you feel able to help me to help them.
Thank you
Lesley
