Donating my hair to the The Little Princess Trust. · 19 October 2016

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Just over two years ago, my little sister started losing her hair, she was only 16 at the time and found it harder to cope with than you would expect.

For most people, having and growing hair is just a part of life. Some of us go to the barbers or hairdressers every week and don't consider how valuable your hair might be to somebody who hasn't got any or is losing it.

The Little Princess Trust is a charitable organisation which makes wigs from real hair for children who have lost all of theirs through illness. We all know individuals who may have suffered with Alopecia or have had cancer and had to undergo Chemotherapy. Whilst we are able to save more and more people's lives through medical intervention, the effects of losing hair can still have a profound effect on people's physical and psychological well-being.

The day that my sister started losing her hair, I decided to start growing my hair so that I could donate it to this amazing charity. My little sister has been incredibly brave and very few people have realised what she was going through and is still having to deal with today.

Hopefully in the future there will be an effective treatment, but meanwhile I am going to donate my hair and try to raise as much money as I can with your help as this is the charity she wished to support.

Thanks again.

Liam Chong.
