Story
A few months ago Nathan and I made a spontaneous decision to sign up for the Manchester Half Marathon. Being typical us our plan to do months of training and be able to ace the half marathon on the day never actually happened! BUT WE DID IT.. on Sunday 16th October we managed to run the 13.1 miles in a not so bad time of 2 hours 27 minutes. Although the event has now happened we are keeping our JustGiving page open another couple of weeks in a bid to raise as much money as possible!
With Christmas fast approaching and last years John Lewis advert still playing on my mind, we have decided to raise money for a charity called 'Friends of the Elderley'. This chairty take donations around this time of the year in a bid to help elderly people enjoy Christmas. After all, no body should have to face the most festive time of year alone if they don't want to. Just to show you exactly what the money raised can be put towards here is a breakdown of what they can offer with our help;
An £11 donations means that they can get a volunteer out to visit someone in their home on Christmas day, whilst £25 would pay for someone to join them for a Christmas lunch and festive celebration. £50 will mean that the charity can train and support a new befriending volunteer to help bring an elderly person friendship all year round, and £110 could help reach up to ten lonely people this Christmas. For more information here is a link to their website; http://www.fote.org.uk/support-us/christmas/.
We're sure this is a cause we can all relate to so any donation no matter how big or small will be massively appreciated!
Thanks all!! :D
