Story
Lily and Max's Walk of Hope for Act4Africa
Many of you will know of my passion for Africa and its people. Some of you may also be aware that Africa is home to over 12 million AIDS orphans - that's the equivalent of every single child in the UK standing at the school gates without a parent or carer arriving to pick them up because every one of them has been obliterated by AIDS.
That's why I support Act4Africa. Having joined this small charity in Uganda and Kenya to deliver HIV and AIDS education programmes on a number of occassions (and seen the devastation that a lack of education can lead to), I know that every £1 raised for this small but effective charity has the potential to save a life. They also deliver life saving, life affirming programmes in Tanzania, Malawi and Zimbabwe too. The charity also gives young people and those affected by AIDS real hope - hope for a better future. That's why this summer, I will be joining dozens of others in The Walk of Hope -an attempt to walk a total of 4124 miles (the distance from the charity's Cheshire office to the first African office it set up in Uganda 10 years ago). If you really want to give the people of Africa a future, please sponsor me here.
