Story
My Dad was diagnosed with Terminal Cancer over 15months ago now, he was then given less than a year to live but is still battling on!!
This is due to the availability of new treatment and drugs that, (while they can not cure my Dad's Cancer), manage to reduce the speed at which the Cancer is spreading and this is thanks to Cancer Research which has saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat Cancer.
It has been a tough year for him and the family but despite a lot of pain he is still fighting on...... and although he is a grumpy bugger most days he is a true inspiration.... so I have decided to challenge myself to 9 months of proper running by doing at least a half marathon every month finishing with the Snowdon Marathon In October - I've saved the best and toughest until last!!!!
It may not sound a great challenge as a lot of people run races every month, but for anyone that knows me well enough, I hardly have the time to fit in going to work, walking the dogs, helping on the farm and riding my horses ......so fitting in training and running is going to be a tough one for me...... especially as I suffer with my back after fracturing it a few years ago. The struggle to conquer this challenge is reflective of the battle faced by my dad and many others in coping day in day out with Cancer and I take my hat off to each and every one as no one can understand what it is like to be faced with that every morning and still get up and carry on!!
Please help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured as we never know when it will affect us or our loved ones.
