Story
I have been given the opportunity to run in the Great Manchester Run to raise awareness for Papyrus UK charity. Having hung up my running shoes about 14 years ago this has become a personal challenge to prepare myself for this run. I have prepared a 5 week training plan which I hope will allow me to complete this and raise as much money for my chosen charity.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK. PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide and believes that many young suicides are preventable. They operate HOPELINEUK, a confidential call, text, and email helpline for young people with thoughts of suicide or those concerned about a young person who may have thoughts of suicide. Every £5 raised can help pay for a potentially life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK from a young person wanting to stay safe from their thoughts of suicide.
The affects mental health can have on loved ones is unbearable and knowing this support is available offers some reassurance.
Social Media, body image issues, pressures at school or work, relationship breakdowns.....the list is endless and the affect on a young person not always obvious. I want to highlight this support is available.
