Abseil for The Mayhew Animal Home · 30 April 2017 ·
On 30th April 2017 I will be climbing up the UK's highest sculpture - the ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.... and then jumping off it to perform the UK's highest free fall abseil from 262ft!
I am used to a physical challenge, but this for me is a real mental challenge - I've never done anything like it (and I'm not great with heights), but I really wanted to make 2017 the year I started to give something back to good causes, and as you probably know animal charities are a cause very, very close to my heart.
In 2011 I rescued my gorgeous cat Khloe from a life of misery and bullying - she was skinny and petrified when I got her but today is a happy, confident and most of all deeply loved. I want every neglected, abandoned or mistreated animal to get a chance like Khloe at happiness in a loving forever home, and so want to push my own personal boundaries to help the many cats, dogs and other animals at The Mayhew by raising as much money as I can through sponsorship of my Abseil.
The Mayhew Animal Home re-homes around 500 cats and 100 dogs each year that are unwanted, abandoned or neglected. As well finding happy new homes for our cats and dogs, our mission is to help animals in need gain a better quality of life by delivering a broad range of community-based projects. Fundraising for The Mayhew Animal Home truly does make a difference. It costs over £6,500 a day to run The Mayhew Animal Home and together we can make our vision a reality and create a society where animals are treated and cared for with respect.
