Story
This year I'm raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research is a fantastic charity dedicated to research into all the blood cancers including Myeloma. Around 30 000 people are diagnosed with some form of blood cancer each year.
In December 2011 my Dad died very suddenly of Myeloma. By the time that we knew he had it, he was unconcious in ICU and never woke up. Those of you who knew me then will know that it was entirely unexpected and a very difficult time for my whole family.
Tragically since then far too many friends and the family of friends have been diagnosed with cancer. Some have not survived and some of my closest friends have lost people since.
So I decided rather than choosing one thing asking you to sponsor me, to do three challenges instead. I completed the Race for Life, climb the tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales and one more challenge to be revealed later....
I know that very few people have seen an improvement in their finances this year, many have seen them get worse, but every pound, every penny will help get us a step closer to stopping this disease, and don't forget to tick the gift aid box if you pay tax in the UK. It won't cost you anything but Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research will be able to claim the tax you've paid back from the government.
If you want more information on the challenges I'm putting myself up against this year, let me know but I've put a few more details below.
Challenge 1:
Completing the Race for Life at Watford Cassiobury Park on 16th June starting at 11am, - come and watch if you're free, no one could accuse me of being a fitness freak so it's a rare opportunity to see a human tomato! I may even be wearing fairy wings...
Challenge 2:
Starting on the last weekend of July 2013 we will climb the tallest mountains in England (Scafell Pike), Wales (Snowdon) and Scotland (Ben Nevis). I started this with a friend on Scafell Pike, due to injury, Snowdon and Ben Nevis will take place by the end of July 2014.
Challenge 3:
This will take place later in the year and is to be confirmed - there are a few options I'm looking at presently but if you have a suggestion, feel free to let me know.
