Lizzie did London '23

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
I did it!! 5 hours and 3 minutes.Very proud of myself and hugely grateful to all my sponsors taking me up and over my target. Didn't walk at all :)) Thanks for all your support!
Here's the blurb I wrote before I ran...
I'm Lizzie, mother of three and not much of a regular runner. Walking and, if I'm lucky, horse-riding are usually more my kind of thing. But, here I am, ticking off the miles on track to run another marathon... here's why!
We recently moved back to Ireland from living abroad for 10 years. What with looking for a place to live, the kids changing schools and getting our new lives set up here, there's been a lot of uncertainty and it's very hard to plan from one week to the next.
In late November, I applied for a charity place to run the London Marathon for #teamredcross. I was a bit stunned when I actually got a place! I've done two marathons before, but they were many moons ago, New York in 2007 and London in 2010, so my last one was thirteen years ago to be exact - and before having 3 kids!
This time, I'm definitely finding the training harder, but seriously loving the me (and the dog) escape time, running about in the Wicklow hills, well away from my darling children.
Please sponsor me if you can. Your donation will help The British Red Cross keep on supplying food, water, medicines and shelter in Ukraine and many other war-torn and disaster zones around the world.
If you do donate, leave me a song as a comment and I'll add it to my running playlist on Spotify.
