Hi guys
Not far to go now... £260 will provide me with all the resources we will need to help Guides in Guyana.
WORLD CUP SWEEPSTAKE - £2.50 to draw a team, £15 if your team wins. Just write "I would like a team" when you donate!
CHANNEL SWIM - Between 1st May and 27th May and in 17 sessions, I completed 1408 lengths - the equivalent to a Channel Swim! You may have seen me in the Durham Times or Northern Echo or heard me on Radio Newcastle and Radio Tees.
As lots of you probably know, through Girlguiding UK, I'm going to be heading out to Guyana in Summer 2010 (that's in South America by the way) to help with the Guide Association there. Not only will we be working with the Guyanese Girl Guide Association to help them develop and recruit more members (it is currently heavily reliant on Girlguiding UK) but we will also be working with local communities to affect a change in the culture of littering in the country which is 80% rainforest.
In order to get there, I need to raise a total of £1850 to cover everything. Thanks to the generosity of Durham University, Van Mildert College, National Trefoil Guild, North East Guiding, Durham South Guide Association, Durham Kepier Division, Stowmarket Rotary Club and Stowmarket and District Lions Club, I have already raised a significant amount of money but now I NEED YOU to help me reach my target.
So what have I done to deserve it? Well, as well as working to organise events for lots of other charities this year through DUCK, I have abseiled down our University library and held a fundraising carboot sale in a local town, as well as my Channel Swim, as you can see above!
Please give generously - even £1 can make a real difference in helping me to get to Guyana!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Lots of love,
Lizzy xx
