London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may have gathered by this point, I am going to be running the London Marathon on 2nd October this year in aid of Cardiomyopathy UK. I have completed a few runs previously although never gone as far as signing up for a Marathon. I will be running with some friends / family who have all unfortunately been effected by this condition in people we care about. If you can spare a few pounds (or loads more) it will be going to an amazing cause in memory or some people we have last far too soon, any donation no matter how small or large will be massively appreciated.
Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle and is the leading medical cause of sudden death in the under 35s. The condition often runs in families and it is more often than not an inherited disease. At least one person in 500 of the UK population has a type of cardiomyopathy and it affects people of all ages. Cardiomyopathy is not curable but can usually be treated successfully.
Cardiomyopathy UK provides information and support to affected families and also helps train doctors and nurses and increase awareness of the condition in the medical profession. Once diagnosed there are good treatments for the condition. You can find out more by visiting Cardiomyopathy UK
