London Marathon 2020 · 17 October 2019 to 26 April 2020 ·

We raise money to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Story

I am running the London Marathon in April 2020 to raise money for The Royal Marsden and in celebration of my Dad’s 60th birthday.

10 years ago, just as my Dad was turning 50, he was diagnosed with stage 3 tongue cancer and given a 50% 5 year survival prognosis as well as pretty dismal chances of being able to talk / swallow post-treatment.

My Dad was treated at The Royal Marsden in London, a world leading cancer centre. The radio and chemotherapy was gruelling but thanks to the team at The Royal Marsden along with their pioneering research, not only was my Dad successfully treated, but the treatment was also considerably less invasive than traditional methods for tongue cancer.

My Dad will be my motivation through the tough training ahead, and beating his 2000 marathon time of 3:45 will be an added bonus ;)

My family and I are eternally grateful to The Royal Marsden and I am running to raise money so that they can continue to do their amazing work treating patients. All donations will be warmly received and go directly to The Royal Marsden.
