Story
My Taid was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2013. My family and I are lucky that my Taid is so well cared for, but I know that many other families don't have access to the same support and care for their loved ones.
I am running the 2023 London Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer's Society. I am running both in celebration of my Taid, and to support Alzheimer's Society in their work to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, and able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
I've entertained the idea of running a marathon a few times in the past, but never quite brought myself to do it. So this year I decided just to go for it, and running for such an incredible cause makes it all the more worthwhile.
My target of £2,000 will provide a lifeline to so many families affected by dementia. Please help me, if you can, to support the vital and invaluable work that Alzheimer's Society do.
I'll be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small, and any support is motivation enough to get me to the end of those 26.2 (long!) miles.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever, and will continue to do so until we find a cure for this disease.
