We enable the creation of marine reserves to reverse the crisis in our oceans

Story

Thank you for visiting the London to Monaco 2017 general donation page. If you'd like to make a donation to the event that will contribute to our overall target of £250,000, please do so on this page.

Following the tremendous success of the inaugural London to Monaco cycle ride in 2016, founded and sponsored by Winch Design, Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE) has been busy getting ready for this year's ride, which we hope will be even bigger and better! The event will run from Sunday 17 - Tuesday 26 September 2017.

This year, we have partnered with Rapha Travel a leading global cycling company who are organising the 10-day event.

If you are interested in taking part or for full details about the ride please visit the website: www.london-monaco.cc.

The Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE) is working to solve the crisis of overfishing by creating marine reserves –parts of the ocean that are protected so that fish and biodiversity can recover.

Over-fishing represents a major food security issue and has devastating consequences for the fragile biodiversity of our planet. Around 90% of global fish stocks are fully or over-exploited and around 90% of large fish are gone. The consequences are far-reaching, not only for the future of food for a growing global population, but because healthy oceans absorb half the CO2 we produce.

BLUE’s aim is to put 10% of the world’s oceans under protection by 2020 and 30% by 2030.

Last year, we raised over £250,000 for crucial ocean conservation. Funds raised went to two projects: Aeolian Islands and Ascension Island.

In the Aeolians, this money enabled us to initiate the creation of a marine protected area in the beautiful but threatened waters. In Ascension, we funded a huge range of conservation, education and eco-tourist development from the island.

This year we hope to raise even more funds for event more projects including the Solent Oyster Restoration Project, marine plastic removal as well as further work in Ascension and the Aeolians.

BLUE is able to receive donations from anyone based in the US through our CAF America account which will allow donors to receive tax benefits.

Thank you so much for your support.
