Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for The Booby Walk.
Shortly before Christmas last year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My diagnosis came as a complete shock, and the team at the breast clinic at West Suffolk hospital held my hand every step of the way. Along with having surgery to remove the tumour, I had to have lymph nodes removed from under my arm, in order for the surgeon to see if the cancer had spread beyond the breast. This surgery can have lifelong debilitating effects. My WiSH charity is raising funds for a new machine which eliminates the need to remove so many lymph nodes, and therefore reducing the risk of permanent damage. Any donations made will be received with more gratitude than I can express.
There are now approximately 20 of us doing this walk, with ages ranging from six to sixty. Every one of us has been touched by cancer in some form or another, either directly or with a friend or family member. This walk is for all of us, to prevent others having to go through invasive and debilitating surgery, to give hope to future sufferers that there is always someone there to fight for you. We are fighting. Together.
Thank you for your kindness.
