300km for Lent · 4 February 2021

Sport in Mind is the UK charity that uses sport and physical activity to transform the lives of people experiencing mental health problems.

Story

I’ve decided this year that rather than give up the usual chocolate or crisps, I will try and complete a challenge over the period. I’m planning to run around 7km for 46 consecutive days up to Easter Sunday. This will add up to my 300km target which is around 7 full marathons.

I’ve chosen to support Sport in Mind who help people conquer mental health through the power of sport. Sport has always been a major part of my life where I have competed in swimming galas to county level rugby to triathlons. I’ve made a vast array of friends through sport and have experienced many moments of happiness from it

I was also lucky enough to own my sports coaching company Kadoo Sports for 8 years where I coached thousands of children. I was able to see the great joy children got through sport and how it brought together classes as a team.

I’ve probably never ran more than two days back to back so 46 days on the bounce will be both a physical and a mental challenge. But by pushing myself and completing this challenge I hope to raise some money for the charity and inspire the younger generation to get involved in sport as there are endless opportunities to be made as well as life long friendships.
