Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
L.I.V.E.S. is the Lincolnshire Integrated Volunteer Emergency Responders Charity. Angela and Paul Miley have been L.I.V.E.S. responders now for around two years and in that time have been called out around a dozen times on 999 calls. They have dealt with young (14) to old (93), serious asthma, heart attack, heat stroke, collapse, stroke and one serious road accident.
They may not have necessarily saved lives, but they have been there ahead of the ambulance crews and have the kit and training to support those in distress.
With a cardiac arrest the chances of succesful resuscitation drop by 50% every minute.....so every minute does matter. Our nearest ambulance station is in Grantham around 20 minutes away (if one is available).
I am cycling Coast to Coast from 4th to 6th April with my husband Andrew and two other colleagues from our village. Angela Miley is driving essential support - with wild weather and snow on the higher ground, warm drinks and dry clothes are essential!
We aim to raise as much as possible, but a few targets are:
£150 trains another First Responder to Level 2 (able to deal with cardiac arrest). I am hoping to complete the training in 2014 and perhaps encourage others in Brandon to do the same
£700 buys a defibrilator
£1300 buys a full L.I.V.E.S. kit bag including the defib' but also pulse oxymeter, oxygen and sets of masks, first aid equipment, suction pump etc.
Do have a search around for any spare cash - we aren't too proud to take the fluffy stuff from behind the sofa.
