Brighton Marathon 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·

The Cure CJD campaign has been set up by a group of individuals, personally affected by the disease, to support the work of researchers & doctors at the MRC Prion Unit at UCL and NHS National Prion Clinic at UCLH. We are a fund within UCLH Charity.

Story

Phoebe, Nathan, Hayden & I have signed up for the Brighton Marathon to hopefully raise some money for the cure CJD fund.

CJD is prion dementia (alternatively known as early onset dementia) and there is currently no known cure.

CJD has affected my family directly with my sister being diagnosed a few years ago, since then the reality is extremely difficult for my sister and everyone around her. The doctors have shared that she is most likely to fall ill in her early thirties meaning we still have time to find a cure.

The doctors are getting closer to finding a treatment and we aim to raise as much as possible to support the use of an antibody drug developed for the treatment of patients, like my sister with CJD.

Thank you for reading, we really appreciate your support ❤️
