Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 20 May, me, Adele and Lizzie are running the Manchester 10k. The reason I’m running for Parkinson’s UK is because my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a couple of years ago. Before his diagnosis I wasn’t very familiar with the disease, its symptoms, and the fact there is currently no cure.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition; this means it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. There are 3 main symptoms (although there are many other symptoms too) - tremors, slowness of movement and muscle stiffness all of which my dad is experiencing. Fortunately his symptoms aren’t so bad that they necessarily prevent him from doing the things he enjoys but I know this will change over time and get worse and that’s why I think the work of Parkinson’s UK is so vital so a cure can one day be found.

This is a cause really close to my heart and I would be SO grateful for any donations. I know 10k isn’t a huge distance but I’ve not found the training easy however I always have my dad in my mind and remember that I’m running for such an important, worthy cause.
