In the U.K. there are currently around 3 million people living with kidney disease.  This is a disease that does not discriminate.  Amanda, my fiance, was one of these unfortunate people. 

Amanda was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in 2017 and our life as we knew it changed.  Following diagnosis of this cruel disease, Amanda required dialysis three times a week for nearly two years,  12 major surgeries and countless hospital appointments.  As a result of all this, her body slowly began to give up the fight.  That was until the 25th August 2020, when she was the successful recipient of a live donor kidney transplant provided by her dad.

Without her strength and determination, the support of her friends and family and the work that Kidney Research UK do to help change the lives of those suffering with this disease, Amanda wouldn't be here today.  

To play a small part in raising money for this life changing charity, I will run the Edinburgh Marathon on 30 May 2021. For those that know me, you will know how much I detest running, however with everything that Amanda has overcome in the last few years, this is the least I can do to support a life changing charity.
