Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Hi, my name is Luke Sanders, I'm 31 and a keen cyclist from Essex. On the 4th September 2020 I will be attempting to complete an "everesting" attempt... Basically I shall be climbing 8848m in altitude on my Bike. Unfortunately essex is probably the flattest place on earth so this means completing 109 reps of North Hill in Danbury. It's a 1mile long section of road so in total it will take 218 miles to reach the required altitude of everest! I'm Hoping to complete this in around 15 hours... But I'll be happy just to complete it at all! Ha

Why am I doing something so seemingly stupid? Because I want to help people with dementia. I like many others out there have members of my family who suffer from dementia. It's a cruel illness and any little I can do to help aid in peoples care, treatment and understanding of it I'll glady go and do it!

This is without a doubt the biggest challenge I have ever attempted. If I am totally honest it's going to be absolutely brutal, a day in hell! So Please feel free to come Down and support me On the day over at North Hill or any words of encouragement are greatly appreciated.
