‘Move in May’ challenge: walking the length of the UK to support the Anthony Nolan Trust in memory of Rory Burke
Spring is here and with days getting longer and warmer, we thought why not take our next team fundraising challenge outside? We are inviting everyone from the M4 project team to walk, cycle, run or dance to rack up those steps and simply GET MOVING!
Together we want to walk/jog/cycle/swim the length of the island of Great Britain from Lands End to John O’Groats, which is 874 miles (1,407 km). We can do this together! Clock up the miles on your daily walks, weekend adventures or even in your back garden. Simply do your activity, send the evidence to abbey.reid@bbv-jv.com and make a donation to this page!
By donating on this just giving page, all donation go to the Anthony Nolan Trust and we've linked to the Remembering Rory Burke page too. Rory sadly passed away in November last year after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in March 2020. Rory was part of the M4 team and worked on Lake End in the structures team. There is an online community that friends and loved ones can visit to remember Rory here: www.roryjamesburke.com
Why Anthony Nolan
Anthony Nolan UK saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder every day. They make lifesaving connections between people with blood cancer and incredible strangers ready to donate their stem cells. By growing the stem cell register, carrying out ground-breaking research and providing the best post-transplant care, Anthony Nolan are giving families a cure. For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Indeed, Anthony Nolan were instrumental to Rory's chances of survival; they flexibly adapted to Rory's situation as it developed, lining up a second and potentially third donor.
