Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hannah, a former Manchester High School for Girls student, tragically lost her life after a prolonged illness in July 2018, aged only 20. In memory of Hannah, over twenty staff, friends of Hannah, and Hannah’s father, are taking part in the Manchester Marathon (April 7th) and/ or Manchester 10 K (May 19th). We aim to fundraise for two charities - Beat (an eating disorders charity), which provided great support to Hannah and her family, and the mental health charity Mind.

Hannah was the most delightful, popular and fun-loving student. Hard-working and generous-spirited, she was a real joy to teach, so talented yet very modest. She loved Science and went on to Birmingham University to study Medicine but also had a real passion for Arts, taking English Literature at A Level. She also adored acting in her speech and drama lessons and wasn’t afraid of trudging through the mud on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. We will always remember her beautiful smile and colourful sixth form suits.
