Story
This year, we are raising money as a school for the construction of Nyanga North High School.
In Mac's, we are doing our bit by setting our fundraising target to £10,000 to support the charity, which will build the following:-
- a classroom block (2 classrooms and one being turned into a Science lab)
- five workshops for practical subjects (Metal Work, Woodwork, Food Science and Clothing Textiles and Design and Technology)
- 2 teachers’ houses (to house at least 6 teachers).
Once these buildings are in place, we will be able to open our doors to Year 8 and Year 9 students.
The school will be unique in Zimbabwe and the whole of Africa. Nyanga North High School will be:
- A school that educates the least privileged children in the least privileged district in Zimbabwe.
- The first school in rural Zimbabwe where pupils will have the opportunity to excel in their areas of talent; academic, sport and performing arts.
- The first school in the district to have Science laboratories and practical subjects workshops.
- A flagship school - the first of its kind in Zimbabwe to resemble schools in more developed economies.
- The first school in the country to have a wildlife enclosure.
Apart from the buildings, we are also want to raise about £7 500.00 to buy and ship a 40 ft container with educational resources and equipment for the above subjects. Some of the resources and equipment needed are:
- Furniture: Chairs, whiteboards, exam tables, etc
- Science laboratories and Music equipment
- Sports equipment
- Library and children's reading books
Equipment and tools for the practical subjects (carpentry, building, welding, ceramics, gardening, food sciences and clothing textiles).
We also need about £7 000.00 to start the ground clearance and excavation before the November rains fall.
