Madeleine Rhodes Running The LDN Marathon 2025 For The British Heart Foundation

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
On April 27th, 2025, I’ll be running the London Marathon for The British Heart Foundation - an incredible charity that advocates with and for people affected by heart and circulatory diseases. Their aim? Beat heartbreak forever.
Now, "heartbreak" can make itself apparent in various ways throughout your life. For my dad (Alan), it happened to be 3 blocked arteries in 2020, and unfortunately for him, boxes of chocolates and listening to Adele on full blast wouldn't be the thing to mend it.
Instead, amidst the chaos of lockdown, he went into surgery for a triple heart bypass - something that is now considered a routine procedure thanks to the hours of research and support from incredible charities like The BHF.
If you speak to Al, he'll make it very clear to you how much he hated (and continues to hate) running. But together, we laced our kicks and completed the couch to 10K in support of his 'Rhode To Recovery', pushing further every week until going out for a jog simply became routine.
This experience (if anything) has taught me that whilst there are an abundance of things in life that you can't control, your health and fitness is something that you will almost always have complete power over. So if not now, when?
If you're in a position to donate, or even join me on one of my training runs over the next few months, I'd be incredibly grateful. Here's to beating heartbreak.
Thank you! Mads🤍
