South Trek in Kerala · 24 May 2012 to 27 May 2012 ·

VSO is an international development organisation that brings people together to share skills, build capabilities, and change lives to make the world a fairer place for all. Everyday, VSO volunteers are working to empower people living in some of the world’s most marginalised communities.

Story

Having inspired by success stories and the experience of several of our Accenture Colleagues who have participated in VSO Treks in the last few years,  I am pushing myself to participate in the Accenture-VSO Kerala Challenge Event 2012.  I can only do it with your support.

To be able to participate, I need to raise funds for a livelihood program for persons with Disabilities. The funds I raise will be used for the following:

·        To enhance livelihood opportunity for over 1000 families of persons with disabilities so that they have an improved income source and thereby are able to uplift their economic situation.

·         Skills based training to persons with disabilities:

·         Offer vocational training opportunities:

·         Provision of seed support to start new income generation ventures:

·        Establish linkages with institutional base for financial and technical support:

·         Establish market linkages for product marketing and networking.

VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO's high-impact approach involves bringing people together to share skills, build capabilities, promote international understanding and action, and change lives to make the world a fairer place for all. Everyday around 1,500 VSO volunteers are working in carefully selected placements, sharing their and experience and working to tackle poverty by empowering those really affected by it.

I need to raise the funds latest by May 11, 2012 couple of weeks prior to my trek date (May 24-27, 2012). Any contribution big or small will make a big difference!

Two ways to do this - You can donate online here by credit or debit card. All donations are secure and sent electronically to Voluntary Service Overseas. It shows up in British pounds but goes to VSO India. Here is a link to a currency converter as a reference for you to know the amount you are donating in Rupees   http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/

Alternatively you can send me a cheque (in my name) or handover cash to me and I will combine all donations that come in this way and make one cheque out to VSO India.

Thanks in advance for your support, trust me when I say, I can’t do this without you!
